Unlike callus that just grows up, corns also grow into the skin. Corns can be very painful and often feel like walking on stones. They can be easily treated with enucleation with a sterile blade.

Hard corns: the most common type, often found on areas of pressure and can have additional callus growing on top.
Soft corns: Commonly occur between toes and may result from tight-fitting shoes.
Seed corns: Seed corns are small, and you often find several in one area.

Enucleation is the process of removing a corn; it involves cutting around the corn and removing the ‘spike’ that grows into the skin. Corns are made of dead skin, making the procedure painless, but they may cause sensitivity depending on how deeply the corn extends into the foot.
